On 8/6/07, software developed by EM Systems was used by the Erie County 9-1-1 Dispatch Center in the successful rescue of a man whose sailboat capsized in rough waters on Lake Erie. The man was able to make several calls to 9-1-1 on his cell phone. The 9-1-1 system passes GPS coordinates from the cell phone to the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) System which provides dispatchers the location of the call. Dispatchers were able to relay an accurate location to first responders who rescued the stranded man. |
